Kopoko Kitty has registered her maiden victory in emphatic style at the Sunshine Coast today.
Jumping away with the field, Kokopo Kitty’s rider, Larry Cassidy, was prepared to ease out of the early contest for a forward position, before pushing Kitty up along the fence to settle midfield.
Continuing to improve her position, Kitty was expertly angled into clear running from behind the leading horses by Cassidy, and at the top of the straight, presented three wide and full of running.
Cassidy sat poised and it wasn’t until the field raced inside the final furlong, that he asked Kokopo Kitty for her effort – the daughter of Deep Field responding in spades, letting down to quickly establish a margin of two lengths.
The official winning margin of 2.5 lengths, could’ve been greater but Cassidy took hold inside the final 50m of the race, with no immediate threat, and the pair cruised through the line.
