A string of consistent efforts has been rewarded, with Hakkai Maru winning the Class 4 (1000m) at the Sunshine Coast, today.

The 5yo daughter of Japanese stallion, Maurice, was ridden by Larry Cassidy with the pair camping on the speed over the sprint distance, before proving too strong for her nine rivals over the final stages, recorded a winning margin of three quarters of a length.

Trainer Louise white said a lot of work goes into Hakkai Maru and was thankful of all of her team’s efforts.

“It was a great ride by Larry, but an extra special thank you to Adam Spinks for putting up with her “special moods”, and Jae Powell for the countless hours of icing (the mares legs).

The victory – her fifth from just seventeen starts, saw her career prizemoney soar past the $100,000.00 mark.
