The run of success continues for Louise White Racing, with Joy’s Reward winning at the Sunshine Coast tonight.
Since joining the stables earlier this year after having been with Hawkes Racing in Sydney, it hasn’t taken long for Joy’s Reward to settle into her new surrounds, and Louise, to find a way to get the best out of the daughter of Shamus Award.
Having run two recent placings, Joy’s Reward heading into the Maiden Handicap (1800m) as one of the leading contenders.
Joy’s Reward raced keen early under Glen Colless and the pair were posted three deep throughout midfield upon settling – a position they would hold until passing the 600m mark when Colless allowed his mount, to slide forward.
Rounding the home turn, Joy’s Reward joined the leading pair and her immediate outside, race favourite and Chris Waller trained, Construe.
Despite the tough run, Joy’s Reward gave another effort when Colless asked for it in the straight and established a margin of Construe – an advantage she was able to maintain in the run to the line, recording a strong length win when crossing the line.
It was the stables third win from the past eight to the races – with Kerema Mori and Epicurious, alson recent winners at Ipswich and Doomben, respectively.
