With three placings from just five starts since joining the Louise White Racing stables from Sydney, it was only a matter of time before Tavisfaction greeted the judge and today at Doomben, she did just that, breaking her maiden status in the process.
Formerly raced by Star Thoroughbreds and prepared by Chris Waller, Tavisfaction was given a perfect run in transit by jockey Matthew McGillivray before finishing too strongly for her competition and recording a three-quarters-of-a-length, victory.
Jumping away from the inside gate cleanly, Tavisfaction settled three back on the fence as the field past the winning post for the first time.
Travelling sweetly, it was there she stayed until, passing the 600m mark, with the pace of the race started to increase, that McGillivray edged closely and approaching the home turn, eased away from the fence to present Tavisfaction beautifully at the top of the straight, angling out from behind the two leading runners.
Under urges of McGillivray, despite having a good look around inside the last 150m, Tavisfaction was still good for her opposition, crossing the line with her ears pricked.
A four-year-old mare by Group 1 winner Tavistock, a son of Montjeu, out of Satisfact, a daughter of Listed winners Lucky Unicorn, the new connections of Tavisfaction, who have enjoyed their ownership experience thus far, look set to continue to do so off of the back of today’s performance.
